Managing the library

The library contains books. These books are kept in the bookcases, and have index numbers starting at 1. Some books have been grouped on the shelves with a common theme, but later ones were not.

Borrowing Books

When someone wants to borrow a book, they need to be a Patron. You can look at the Patrons page to find them, or create a new Patron account.

Once the Patron account has been created, go to the Loans page and click on the "New loan" button. Then start typing the Patron's name. It should search the Patrons and find the correct person.

Enter up to 5 books, one on each line, by typing the book titles. Just like the Patrons, it will search the book titles to help you find the right one.

The Loan date is set to today's date, but you can change it if you want.

The Due date is set to two weeks from today's date, but you can change it if you want.

Don't set the Returned date until a book has been returned.

Add any important notes to go along with this loan.

Click the "Loan books" button to save the loan.

Loans

The Loans page displays a list of all the loans. You can search for a book by title, or filter the Loans by the type. You can also click on the column titles to sort the list by that column.

Click on the title of a loan (in the first column) to go to the Loan. That allows you to edit the loan, for example setting the "Date returned" date or setting the loan status to "Returned" or "Lost".
